Nocturne Lattice Hand-Tufted Rug | Navy Blue & Ivory Geometric Grid Design

Construction: Hand Tufted. The rug is created by punching wool yarn through a stretched canvas using a handheld tufting gun. Once the tufting is complete, the reverse is secured with latex adhesive and a protective backing, helping hold the fibres firmly in place.

Material: The product sheet specifies Blended Wool with New Zealand Wool. New Zealand wool is valued for its soft feel, naturally bright base, long fibres, and ability to hold colour and detailed patterns effectively.

Colour: A sophisticated combination of deep navy blue, ivory, and subtle neutral undertones, creating a high-contrast palette suited to contemporary and luxury interiors.

Design: A geometric lattice pattern in ivory across a deep navy field, with stepped linear detailing around the outer edges. The design creates a clean architectural appearance with a refined sense of visual rhythm.

The rug is available in:

Hand-Tufted Detail: The design is built layer by layer through hand tufting, followed by backing, shearing, and finishing. The geometric grid pattern requires careful attention to spacing, line consistency, and edge definition to maintain clarity throughout the layout. Where required, skilled artisans may refine the surface to improve precision and dimensional character.

Backing: A latex-secured canvas construction is used to hold the tufted fibres in place, with protective backing applied to the reverse.

Production Process: The complete process involves design and tracing, wool dyeing and yarn preparation, hand tufting, backing, shearing, carving where required, washing, edge finishing, and final quality inspection.

Artisans Involved: The making process can involve designers and tracers, dyers and yarn preparers, tufters, backers, shearers, carvers, and washers/finishers, with approximately 6–10 skilled people contributing across the different stages.

Manufacturing Time: The detailed hand-tufting process can take approximately 4–6 weeks (30–45 days) from start to finish. The listed collection lead time is 7–15 days, subject to order and production requirements.

Vacuum the rug regularly using low suction and a non-rotary attachment to remove dust and loose fibres without putting unnecessary stress on the tufted surface. Keep the beater bar turned off. This helps preserve both the wool pile and the clarity of the geometric pattern.

For spills, gently blot the affected area immediately with a clean, damp cloth and, when necessary, use a mild wool-safe detergent. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing, as this can loosen or distort tufted fibres and may affect the crisp visual definition of the lattice design.

Always place the rug over a quality rug pad. A rug pad helps prevent slipping and bunching, adds cushioning, and reduces friction between the latex-backed rug and hard flooring.

Rotate the rug 180 degrees every 3–6 months to distribute foot traffic evenly and minimise uneven fading from sunlight. This is especially useful for maintaining visual balance across the darker base and lighter patterned surface.

Keep the rug dry and avoid soaking it or placing it in persistently damp areas, as excessive moisture can affect the backing adhesive. For deeper cleaning, professional cleaning is recommended approximately every 1–2 years. Always inform the cleaner that the rug is hand-tufted so an appropriate low-moisture cleaning method can be used.

The Nocturne Lattice Hand-Tufted Rug is available in multiple sizes, from the 2 × 10 ft runner size through to the generous 10 × 14 ft size, allowing it to work across compact spaces as well as larger living, bedroom, and lounge interiors.

The listed collection lead time is 7–15 days, with the final delivery timeline depending on the selected size, production status, destination, and shipping method. The complete hand-tufting manufacturing process can take approximately 4–6 weeks (30–45 days) when production is made to order or based on current availability.

Each rug is prepared and packed carefully for transportation. Because rugs are available in different sizes and weights, packaging and handling requirements may vary between orders. Returns and exchanges are subject to the applicable 1930 Mills return policy, including product condition and eligibility requirements.

The Nocturne Lattice Rug is produced through a detailed hand-tufting process involving multiple stages of skilled craftsmanship. From design tracing and yarn preparation to tufting, backing, shearing, finishing, and inspection, each stage contributes to the final appearance and durability of the rug.

The use of wool and New Zealand wool in the specified construction provides a naturally textured and premium foundation, while the handcrafted process gives the rug its distinctive character. The contrast-rich lattice composition and stepped edge detailing reflect the care involved in translating a precise geometric design into a tactile woollen surface.

As a handcrafted product, minor variations in texture, fibre placement, line definition, and colour perception may naturally occur and are part of its individual character.

Any applicable warranty or product assurance is provided according to the 1930 Mills terms applicable to the product at the time of purchase.

What does hand-tufted mean?
Hand-tufting is a rug-making technique in which artisans use a handheld tufting gun to punch yarn through a stretched canvas according to the traced design. The yarn is then secured from the reverse with adhesive and backing.

What material is the Nocturne Lattice Rug made from?
The product specification lists Blended Wool with New Zealand Wool. New Zealand wool is known for its soft feel, long fibres, bright base, and ability to hold detailed colours effectively.

What colours are featured in this rug?
Nocturne Lattice features a sophisticated combination of deep navy blue and ivory, creating a bold yet refined contrast for modern interiors.

What makes the design distinctive?
The rug features a fine geometric lattice pattern across a dark navy field, with stepped linear detailing near the edges. This gives the design a structured and architectural character while keeping it visually elegant.

Which sizes are available?
The available sizes are 2 × 10 ft, 5 × 8 ft, 6 × 9 ft, 8 × 10 ft, 9 × 12 ft, and 10 × 14 ft.

How much does the rug weigh?
Approximate weights range from 5.2 kg for the 2 × 10 ft size to 42.6 kg for the 10 × 14 ft size. Larger sizes naturally require additional handling during delivery and installation.

Is this rug suitable for a living room?
Yes. Its high-contrast palette, geometric pattern, and hand-tufted texture make it especially suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, lounges, and other sophisticated interior spaces.

Which interiors does it pair well with?
The rug works particularly well with contemporary, modern-luxury, minimalist, urban, and quiet-luxury interiors. It pairs beautifully with warm woods, cream upholstery, tan or black leather, brushed brass, stone finishes, and monochrome or neutral décor palettes.

Does a new wool rug shed?
Some loose fibres can appear during the initial period of use. Regular vacuuming with low suction and a non-rotary attachment can help remove loose fibres without damaging the tufted surface.

Should I use a rug pad?
Yes. A quality rug pad is strongly recommended to improve grip, add cushioning, prevent bunching, and reduce friction between the rug backing and the floor.

Can I machine wash this rug?
No. Hand-tufted rugs with latex and canvas backing should not be machine washed or submerged, as excessive moisture can deteriorate the backing and adhesive.

How should I clean a spill?
Blot the spill immediately using a clean, damp cloth. For stubborn marks, use a small amount of mild wool-safe detergent. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the area.

How often should I rotate the rug?
Rotate the rug approximately 180 degrees every 3–6 months to distribute foot traffic and sunlight exposure more evenly.

How often should the rug be professionally cleaned?
Professional cleaning is recommended approximately every 1–2 years, preferably using a low-moisture method suitable for hand-tufted rugs.

How long does a hand-tufted rug take to make?
The complete hand-tufting manufacturing process can take approximately 4–6 weeks (30–45 days), covering design, yarn preparation, tufting, backing, shearing, finishing, washing, and inspection.

How is the rug made?
The process begins with a designer creating and scaling the pattern, followed by tracing it onto canvas. Wool is then dyed and prepared, artisans hand-tuft the yarn through the canvas, and the reverse is secured with latex adhesive and protective backing. The surface is subsequently sheared, hand-finished where required, washed, edge-finished, and inspected.

How many artisans are involved in making the rug?
Different stages involve designers and tracers, dyers, yarn preparers, tufters, backers, shearers, carvers, and washers/finishers. Depending on the production setup, approximately 6–10 skilled people may contribute to the finished rug.

What makes New Zealand wool suitable for premium rugs?
New Zealand wool is valued for its naturally bright base, softness, and long staple fibres. Its fibre structure helps create a smooth, dense pile while providing a good foundation for detailed colours and patterns.

Can this rug work in a bedroom?
Yes. Its rich navy tone and elegant ivory pattern make it a strong choice for bedrooms, especially where a more defined and sophisticated visual anchor is desired.

Will every rug look exactly the same?
Because the rug is handcrafted, minor variations in texture, fibre placement, and line definition may occur. These subtle differences are part of the character of a handmade product.

What furniture colours pair well with this rug?
The navy and ivory palette pairs beautifully with cream upholstery, walnut, oak, tan leather, black accents, marble, brass finishes, and neutral or monochrome décor elements.
